Our school-aged children attend special education classes in public schools and participate in The Jeffrey Foundation activities after school and special events on weekends and during vacations.  For each child, we establish a specialized curriculum that ensures that progress and self-confidence will develop naturally.  One of our main goals is to mainstream children into regular school whenever possible.  The program’s mission is to give children the chance to grow individually at their own pace with the vision of making the transition into mainstream types of services.  Activities of the School Age Program include dramatic play, cultural sensitivity activities, team sports, games and time on the computer.  As in the Early Education Program, promoting interaction between the children is key.

Within an inclusive environment, The Jeffrey Foundation serves special needs and typical children between the ages of 5 to 18 years.  The focus of children’s programs is to promote the maximum level of achievement in each core competency area.  The ultimate goal is to develop each core competency to its fullest potential and provide a healthy, community-based and inclusive environment so all children can learn and live side-by-side.

Early childhood programs are accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children.  Partners include:  “Let’s All Play” National Inclusion Project, State Department of Developmental Disabilities Regional Centers and Los Angeles Universal Preschool.

Core competency areas that are addressed:

Cognitive Skill Building

Social-Emotional Development

Self Worth/Self-Esteen

Language Development

Physical Development

Socialization Skills

Life Skills Training/Community Integration
