Our Special Clients

Children with special needs have the same basic needs, desires and rights that all children have, and are entitled to the same opportunities for recreation and education that all children require.  We also now offer inclusionary programs - not all our clients are special needs.

Most of the people we serve are the young victims of Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, Autism, crippling accidents, sight, speech and hearing impediments, in-utero drug abuse as well as other abuse, and their families.

Over 150 children and their families benefit from our programs. Our average family has five members. That adds up to more than 750 people served by The Jeffrey Foundation each year! Most of our families are headed by a single working mother. Because we offer dependable child care, these mothers are able to work and seek better jobs, increasing their families' standard of living. Brothers and sisters have less stress related to the responsibility for caring for the handicapped sibling. This gives them more free time. And most importantly, the children with disabilities benefit from an increased sense of self esteem.
