The Jeffrey Foundation continues to evolve and strategically expand its service capacity to meet increasing and shifting community needs.  By assisting families through a holistic approach, the Foundation can truly be effective in helping at-risk and special needs children achieve their full potential.

Children’s, along with parent and caregiver programs, are now incorporated into a framework called the Family Empowerment Program (FEP) which integrates a wide range of family services and developmentally-appropriate education for children ages 0 to 18.

The FEP emerged as the social service model by which the Foundation could utilize its natural connection to parents/caregivers and the family as a whole in order to improve the well being of the family unit and provide the most effective prevention and intervention services. The Foundation also provides services for families in the community with typically-developing children who face parenting problems or other family issues that cause difficulty or disruption of the family.

The Foundation strives to increase community-based efforts to enhance the well being of the family through the development of parent leaders, advocates and mentors. As well-educated and empowered self-advocates, these parents/caregivers are the cornerstones of stable families and healthy communities.

Their education, health/wellness and empowerment are the keys to responding to the challenges that are so prevalent in each family coping with the lifetime responsibility of caring for a special needs child.  Our training programs help all family members become more understanding & helpful.

The Family Resource Center began serving the community in 1999 and is currently serving 300 children and adults.  We conduct community outreach to inform the community about our critical family services and continue to recruit new clients on an ongoing basis.  Since opening our doors in 1972, we have served over 10,000 families.

The Family Resource Center is funded by grants from the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department, and Corporate Foundation Grants.  Parent/Caregiver support groups are provided with support from the State Department of Developmental Disabilities, Regional Centers.  Department of Children and Family Services-Family Preservation Network and Westside Children Center support Family Preservation programs.
